I don’t know about you, but I love to learn new things. It’s just the kind of geek that I am. Lucky for me, my clients and projects push me to learn new things on a regular basis.

A biggie for me this year was collective impact, and specifically how to evaluate new collective impact initiatives. This approach allows the evaluator to facilitate the group’s learning and reflection in new ways and using new methods.

Lucky for me, FSG’s guide on Facilitating Intentional Group Learning was also published this year. The Advisory Board for EvalFest will be descending on Chapel Hill later this week, and I can’t wait to try out some of the learning strategies in this guide with this group.

We’re going to use the What? So what? Now what? activity to make decisions about how to change the research and evaluation plans for the final two years of the project. We also plan to do some Trend Mapping to document our advisers’ perspectives on current trends in informal learning and how the EvalFest project might benefit from and contribute to those trends.  It’s going to be a great week, full of geeky goodness!
